Marches for peace. Coalitions for fair wages. Help for immigrants. The work of the Church Council’s Social Justice Ministry involves thousands in our community, moved by a shared desire for compassion and justice.

Our main focus is on overcoming poverty and building social justice, both locally and nationally. Read our "Let Justice Roll" (PDF 96KB) statement that describes our social justice agenda.

From a faith perspective, we track public policy issues and develop strategies for change. We educate congregations and help them organize. We continually reach out – to grassroots groups, community coalitions, government agencies and others – to find new ways we can work together.

Much of our work is led by task forces devoted to a range of local, national and international causes.

In addition, we build social justice coalitions in the areas of:

Solving Homelessness

State Legislature

Meeting basic needs for every person

Livable wages

Immigrants’ rights

Fair taxation

Racial justice

Disengaging Responsibly from Iraq

The Crisis in the Sudan

Drug Policy Reform

Haiti
