What does it mean to be a social justice church?
A church that enables people of faith to integrate the life of the spirit with the life of action through a commitment to study, prayer, worship, and work for the coming of God’s reign on earth.
The Rauschenbusch Center works at the critical intersection where faith and action, church and world meet to challenge and inform each other. The Center fulfills its mission by providing training and support in social ministry for local congregations, clergy, and seminarians with an emphasis on the integration of spirituality and social action with an emphasis on:
- Nurture: Fostering and sustaining the capacity of religious leaders and local congregations to engage effectively in social justice ministries through opportunities for prayer and spiritual reflection on God’s call to discipleship.
|
- Education: Providing education regarding the systemic causes of social and economic injustice and enabling theological reflection on the biblical mandate for justice.
|
- Action: Leading both individuals and congregations into and through transformative experiences that give rise to and motivate social justice ministries.

We are the church as we worship together;
We are the Kingdom as we live justly and lovingly with one another.
