The Rev. David Bloom
David Bloom
is an ordained American Baptist minister with eight years of experience in
parish ministry and thirty years in ecumenical leadership in
Seattle
on social justice issues.
As associate director for urban ministry at the Church Council of Greater
Seattle (1978-1997), Bloom developed an urban program that focused upon public
witness, civic education, human rights, community organizing, and theological
reflection on the church’s role in society.
He
is a founder of several local organizations that provide shelter, build housing,
and organize for social change. He
retired from full-time ministry in June 2006 and is now engaged in speaking,
teaching, writing, and traveling. He
is director emeritus of both the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness and the
Rauschenbusch
Center
for Spirit and Action.
He is also on the adjunct faculty at Antioch University-Seattle where he
teaches courses on homelessness, community organizing, and faith & action,
and he serves on several community boards. Bloom is a graduate of Macalester
College (B.A.), American Baptist Seminary of the West (M.Div.), and Princeton
Theological Seminary (Th.M.).
